Bonifas and Reed to seek re-election to Bellevue School Board

The filing window closes next week for individuals seeking a spot on their local school board.

Nomination petitions for candidates seeking a school board seat must be turned in to the school board secretary by 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18. This ensures their name will appear on the Nov. 4 election ballot.

Eligible candidates are citizens of the United States, a resident of Iowa, and at least 18 years old. School board members serve four-year terms.

In Bellevue, the terms of board president Mike Reed and board member Allysen Bonifas end this fall. Bonifas said she will seek re-election and has already filed the appropriate paperwork. Reed, a veteran of the board for two decades, said he will also run again.
