Boise voters to decide on Boise Open Space Levy in 2025 election
BOISE, Idaho The Boise City Council has approved the addition of the Boise Open Space Levy to the November 2025 election ballot. The levy aims to fund foothill property purchases, support clean air and water, and preserve park properties in the city's growing areas.
The first foothills levy was approved in 2001, promoting conservation efforts and wildlife habitat. In 2015, Boise voters approved a second 10 million dollar levy.
Council Member Luci Willits emphasized the importance of the levy, saying, "One of the things that makes Boise so unique is our park systems and that we can actually see our foothills. There are places in the West and throughout other parts of the country where you really can't see the natural habitat of mountains and foothills cause of development. This has been something so unique to Boise that I think makes us really special and the advantage of a levy is that taxpayers can choose whether they want to continue that and so it will be their choice whether they want to use their tax dollars to spend money for open space and that's a powerful choice."
Boise voters will have the opportunity in the November 2025 election to decide on the utilization of levy funds towards open space and clean water funding in the upcoming years.
