Walton County Chamber to host forum for municipal election candidates on Oct. 8

Municipal elections are next month and early voting begins in less than two weeks. To help voters learn about their options, the Walton County Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a Political Candidate Forum for candidates with opposition in the upcoming elections. This will be for the cities of Loganville, Monroe and Social Circle as well as the Social Circle School Board.

Although Joanne Byrne is listed as a candidate for the Loganville City Council in the forum flyer, and her name also will be on the ballot, she has officially withdrawn from the race, according to the Walton County Board of Elections.

“There will be notices in the polling places where she is on the ballot stating that votes for her will not count,” Walton County Director of Elections Jenni Phipps said.

If you would like to submit questions to be considered, they cannot be candidate specific and must be submitted to staff@waltonchamber.org by 12 noon on Friday, Oct. 3. List the City and question in the body of the email and subject line should be PCF Question Submission. Candidates had until Wednesday, Oct. 1, to confirm participation in the forum.
