Liberty County targets low voter turnout with new outreach ahead of Nov. 4 election

LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. — Liberty County held its first voter appreciation event on Friday to boost turnout ahead of Nov. 4.

The Voter Appreciation Celebration event was part of a broader effort for county officials to combat low turnout in local races, intended to help residents register, review what’s on the ballot and prepare for Election Day.

"A lot of times with smaller elections, people don’t even realize there’s one happening, or they don’t realize there are important issues that they can use their voice for," said Tirae Stevens, Liberty County's voter outreach coordinator.

Organizers said the event is about more than signing up. Staff answered questions, shared accurate information about upcoming elections, and encouraged voters to pick up sample ballots.
