WASHINGTON Washington National Cathedral will host the funeral service for former Vice President Richard B. Cheney on November 20, 2025, at 11:00 am.

Cheney served as the 46th Vice President of the United States from 2001 to 2009, and as the 17th U.S. Secretary of Defense from 1989 to 1993. Cheney also served as the White House Chief of Staff for President Gerald Ford from 1975 to 1977 and as U.S. Representative for Wyomings at-large congressional district from 1979 to 1989. Vice President Cheney died at the age of 84 on November 3, 2025.
Vice President Cheney devoted decades of his life to public service at the highest levels of government, said The Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, Dean of Washington National Cathedral. His life was marked by deep dedication to his family and to the country he served. We pray for his family and all who loved him.
Participating clergy include:
The Most Reverend Sean Rowe, Presiding Bishop and Primate, The Episcopal Church
The Very Reverend Randolph Marshall Hollerith, Dean, Washington National Cathedral (will offer the homily)
The Reverend Canon Jan Naylor Cope, Provost, Washington National Cathedral
The Reverend Canon Rosemarie Logan Duncan, Canon Precentor, Washington National Cathedral
The Reverend Joshua D. Armstrong-Walters, Rector, St. Johns Episcopal Church
Tributes include:
The Honorable George Walker Bush, Forty-third President of the United States
Jonathan Reiner, MD, Professor of Medicine and Surgery, George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences
The Honorable Pete Williams, Former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs and former NBC News Justice Correspondent
Grandchildren of Richard Cheney
The Honorable Liz Cheney
The service for Vice President Cheney will be by invitation, and only those with invitations issued in advance of the service will be admitted to the Cathedral. Security measures will be in place to ensure the health and safety of the staff and guests in attendance. The public is invited to watch the service online via the Cathedrals YouTube channel or on the Cathedrals website.

I keep checking the mailbox for my invite, but it hasnt shown up yet.
I just might have to wait and pay my respects at his gravesite, but Im not sure I can hold it that long
