CT-AD25: Early Voting Underway In 25th District (D) Special Election.

Early voting will continue this weekend for voters in New Britain’s 25th Assembly District in the special election to fill the state representative seat left vacant following Mayor Bobby Sanchez’s recent election to the city’s top office.

Election Day is Tuesday, January 6, 2026, when voters who have not yet voted by they will be able to vote at their designated polling places.

The special election features a contest between Democratic City Council member Iris Noemi Sanchez (D-3) and Republican City Constable Jamie Vaughan (R).

Iris Sanchez is campaigning on a platform focused on housing, quality education, public safety, and infrastructure improvements to address street flooding. She said that the people of the district deserve a State Representative who knows the concerns of everyday people and a representative who fights for what families need. Sanchez said, as the longest serving Council member she, “has championed initiatives to strengthen public safety, expand youth engagement, and build stronger relationships between residents and city officials.”
