Now this up is an electoral map I would most welcome. . .

Sounds good to me. It’s time to fight fire with fire.

The people in Lassen County, my guess California’s reddest, would be represented by. . . a Democrat.

Redistricting is a time honored Republican tactic. It’s past time we play that game. California, lead the way!

Wed went through a long, careful process to take redistricting OUT of the hands of politicians.

and try to add 5 or so more Republican House seats, which would further solidify their majority. If we don't do anything, that will happen and there will be another 2 years of Republicans controlling the Federal government. We have a chance to regain the House in 2026, but that chance will evaporate if Texas redistricts and gains 5 more Republican seats. This will cause much harm to people, in addition--look at what they have already done with their Big Ugly Bill. The situation is too dire not to try to counter what Texas might do.

Hell isn't merely paved with good intentions; it's walled and roofed with them

In this case, binding the hands of politicians makes it impossible for them to do the right thing. Hoist on our own petard.
