Special election set to fund Bella Vista projects

Bella Vista voters will decide on nearly $34.4 million in bonds in a special election set for Nov. 18.

🗳️ State of play: Early voting starts Nov. 12. The bonds total $34,395,000, and voters will have six questions on the ballot, including funding projects for fire, police and streets.

💰 How it works: The city has a 1% sales tax approved by voters that is set to stay in effect until certain debt is paid off, which will likely be next year, Bella Vista spokesperson Cassi Lapp told Axios. If the bond issue passes, a new 1% sales tax will replace the existing 1% sales tax and continue until these bond issues are paid, instead of the tax dropping off.

If the first issue on the ballot to refinance the $6,175,000 in 2020 sales and use tax bonds fails, then all the issues fail regardless of whether voters approve them, Lapp said.

who lived in Bentonville but had close ties with Bella Vista. They would take us kids and our mom around Bella Vista, to places that would be interesting to kids, like a cement fishing pond. I caught a sunfish there once, but had to release it because it was too small. Anyway, the mother was very generous, and she even gave us kids Christmas and birthday presents. Her husband was always busy with his Cooper Communities gig. Anyway, the husband was transferred to Hot Springs, and we never heard from them after that
