Arizona attorney general asks state supreme court to revive case against Trump's 2020 allies

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is preparing to ask the state’s Supreme Court to revive her criminal case against a long list of Donald Trump’s top allies in his bid to subvert the 2020 election.

Mayes’ case has been on hold for months after the trial judge ruled the indictment she obtained was flawed because grand jurors were not shown the precise text of the law the defendants had allegedly broken.

“We remain squarely focused on ensuring the defendants are held accountable because there is nothing more important than enforcing the rule of law,” Mayes said in a statement announcing her decision.

An appeals court upheld that order, and Mayes had until Friday to ask the state’s high court, consider seeking a new indictment or dropping the case altogether. Mayes’ bid to resuscitate the long-stalled case ensures it will be a live issue for months, including as she seeks reelection in 2026.
