Jimmy Kimmel went on Ted Danson's podcast Everyone Knows Your Name

Pretty good information about the Jimmy Kimmel Live origin story..

A few highlights -- they disputed the claim made by Bill Maher that he was cancelled by ABC.

ABC was looking to start a traditional talk show. David Letterman was their first choice after he lost out on the Tonight Show. So after he signed with CBS they narrowed it down to 2 other candidates -- Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel..

Another cool tidbit from Danson and Kimmel was that even though they did not know each other aside from having mutual admiration. They did have something in common.

Celebrity kids were frequent visitors at their respective homes..

Taylor Dearden at the Kimmel home and Jason Ritter at the Danson home growing up. To name a few.
