(26,047 posts)I have never seen a storm sitting on a peak like that before either, and I spend a lot of time in the Rockies and other western mountain ranges.

(113,879 posts)Clouds illustrating fluid dynamics better than any textbook, rolling over the tops of the peaks and flowing through the highest passes. It's completely different than anything I saw back east, even in the Smokies.
Of course, if you're out enjoying nature, it also means get your butt to higher ground. Flash floods out here are intense, I've seen refrigeragors and garden sheds being carried down the arroyos.
