While this is specific to the American guitar industry, the points he makes would apply to any niche trade or craft.

It is a niche market and they only sell so many, so the markup is very high compared to their materials costs.
Conversely, here is a competing pedal that is mass-produced in China ($30):

On paper there isn't a significant difference, so on some level they do compete. Tariffs would impact the Behringer price much more significantly than the Mythos. It's possible that the higher price could push some musicians to splurge for the American-made pedal.
I'm not a fan of the tariffs, but this isn't the best example in my opinion.
