(4,993 posts)I remember the image of what seemed like thousands of pills or capsules leaping up and across the screen. It is a powerful movie, which is made all the more poignant by knowing the real-life fate which would befall actress Sharon Tate a little more than a year and a half after the movie was released.
The "dolls" are barbiturates which male predators use to ensnare the fledgling actresses into lives of dependance and exploitation.

(4,993 posts)That was was back in the early 1970s when CBS would debut a relativity recent, popular movie on Friday evening, and then rerun it later that night after the late-night news. Two other movies which CBS allotted that treatment to were "M*A*S*H" (1970) and "Kelly's Heroes" (1970).
