John Sebastian and The Lovin' Spoonful spawned after watching The Beatles performance on Ed Sullivan's Really Big Shew at Mama Cass' House.
The band was only together for three short years that put no less than seven top ten hits on the radio. Songs that, if you're that age, will open a floodgate of joy, love, and hippie peace.
Most music docs consist of a long interview, then a snippet of a song followed by more dialog. This one features the songs performed live in their entirety from Ed Sullivan, Hullabaloo, and other pop shows of the era. John Sebastian takes us into the band for the stories behind those seven songs in order. There will be at lest one song you love that you forgot all about.
This You Tube film is best viewed on a smart TV rather than on a phone, so put on some tie dye, snuff the cable news for an hour and go back 60 years. You'll be glad you did. Welcome Back to 1966, I'll meet up with you later in the new year.
It can't play in DU, so search for "Lovin Spoonful - A Lovin' Look Back with John Sebastian" in You Tube on your smart device. I promise you'll end the year with a smile.
Part two continues the interview:

(35,106 posts)At this point in time I doubt I will remember but I will at least get a link and hope it is there later. I loved them, loved his voice and all of it. Jr. High for me, I think, and they roared for a while. I saw him on a you tube a few days ago with John Prine.
