Watch Oasis lead 65,000 fans through the Poznan and Liam Gallagher don a sombrero as reunion tour hits Mexico City

From NME, about last night's 2nd and last Mexico City show, before they head back to London for two more shows at Wembley.

NME's article requires some correcting, though. (I hate sloppy journalism and writing.)

https://www.nme.com/news/music/watch-oasis-lead-65000-fans-through-the-poznan-and-liam-gallagher-don-a-sombrero-as-live-25-reunion-tour-hits-mexico-city-3892468

In honour of the occasion, Liam took to the stage at the 65,000-capacity Estadio GNP Seguros stadium wearing a Sombrero, leading fans through the tour’s now familiar setlist.

That makes it sound as though Liam went onstage at the start of the show wearing a sombrero. He didn't have a sombrero on till the last two songs of the encore, and it was apparently the sombrero that earlier in the concert, and during all the previous night's show, had sat atop the lifesize cardboard cutout of their favorite football team manager that has been with them throughout the tour. (See the thread - https://www.democraticunderground.com/1034151621 - about the Billboard review of their first show in Mexico yesterday.)

Liam often ends their shows with his parka hood up, often a bucket hat over the hood, and sometimes a crescent-shaped tambourine stuck temporarily atop the bucket hat. (Have I mentioned that Liam - who gets writeups in GQ as a "style icon" - can be very weird?). But last night it was a sombrero, and who cares if fans can no longer see his $1400 Elvis-style Dita sunglasses?

Liam had also been the one to try to get their fans jumping in unison at the start of Cigarettes & Alcohol, but last night, for another change, that was turned over over to Noel:

The band also broke out The Poznan – a staple of their live sets. The celebration – borrowed from their beloved Man City – involves fans facing away from the stage, linking arms with fellow gig-goers and jumping up and down in unison.

“The big man here doesn’t ask for much,” Noel told the crowd, gesturing to his brother. “He doesn’t ask for the hokey cokey or any of that shit, or the Macarena. But for this next song, we’d like everybody to turn around, link arms, jump up and down in time to the music. The world is fucking watching, do not let all the Oasis fans down.”

That's hokey pokey, not hokey cokey, and Noel apparently got it right. WTF, NME?

At least the magazine got their first review of the tour right, as this review today recalls:

NME gave Oasis’ historic first comeback concert at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium a glowing five-star review, writing: “After a ‘90s heyday and an often maligned post-millennium era, this is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century.”

And occasional sombrero wearing, apparently, lol. The last two songs below - hear the crowd reaction when Liam appears wearing that sombrero. Which he managed to perch a tambourine on briefly. And which Noel threw to the crowd later.

EDITING to add a photo showing how much Liam and Noel enjoyed that second concert in Mexico City:

According to this page, showing a post from Noel's daughter, the sombrero was his idea: https://www.facebook.com/britpopnews/posts/noel-gallagher-is-responsible-for-the-sombrero-pep-guardiola-wore-during-oasis-s/1416437827153915
