Wasteland of the Free - Iris DeMent-This song should have its own permanent posting somewhere on DU

Originally recorded in 1996; you can hear some dated references, but it's more powerful now than it ever was.

And the great irony is/was - that Iris actually came from a greater 'wasteland' (crotchland?) than what that was ...
In any event - she's about as GD 'authentic' as anybody currently holding a guitar.
