"We Want The Airwaves" -The Ramones

Perhaps the boldest statement in rock & roll history, this rebellious anthem is Joey Ramone's demand that real rock songs be played on radio stations. As if.

Always yearning for one solid hit, The Ramones changed producers for this album. While Phil Spector produced the previous release, this single originated from "Pleasant Dreams" (1981) produced by Graham Gouldman, a member of 10cc . He penned a number of hits, including "For Your Love" by The Yardbirds.

It was for naught however, as the song failed to get mainstream traction. Despite the change in sound, the album didn't chart.... and that's what I like the most about it.
At 3:22 it probably qualifies as a Ramones ballad. LOL

Nine to five and five to nine
Ain't gonna take it, it's our time
We want the world and we want it now
We're gonna take it anyhow

Joey Ramone – lead vocals and backing vocals
Johnny Ramone – electric guitar and backing vocals
Dee Dee Ramone – bass, lead vocals (track 18) and backing vocals
Marky Mark Ramone – drum and backing vocals

Shonen Knife, AKA The Osaka Ramones, covered this song! Here’s their version.

I think Rock and Roll Radio is another one that suggests that while nostalgia is great, they're not playing new kinds of music on the radio.
