He came onstage with a bottle of Pepsi in one hand, a tall tumbler of whisky in the other. He would drink from each in between pieces.

At one point he was groovin on a piece, eyes closed and head wagging, when a string on his guitar broke. For about ten seconds he looked like he was having a seizure- his arms flying spasmodicly, making strange gasps. Then just as suddenly he stopped, yanked the string off, reached into his case, pulled out a string and needle nosed pliers. In about thirty frenzied seconds he had the string in place and tuned up. Then he picked up where he left off.

He was one of a kind, a tortured brilliant soul.
