My beardie was 15 years old (which is longer than the breed average). It took me eight years to get another puppy. My oldest two children lost both of their beardies (their beardies were also over 14 years old) and they both got new beardies within six months of the loss of their family members. Last weekend was the one year anniversary of him saying goodbye to his family member. It was rough but his new puppy helped.

Time will help

Some of the early church fathers wrote they believe exactly this which includes the animal kingdom.

Who was present in the cave to welcome the new-born Messiah? Not any staff from a local maternity ward. But ANIMALS!

It has been six years since our last one passed. I still hurt when I think about them, even if I am also laughing and remembering how great they both were.

We're not alone:. It's not unheard of to be visited by profound grief, regret and guilt that you didn't do enough or should've done things differently. Eats away at you.

I've lost several dogs in my life and it never gets any easier. I lost my last pup at age 16 over a year ago and I still miss him terribly each and every day.
