What Would You Guess Ended the Pickleball Craze?

"From 2022 through 2024, pickleball was the fastest-growing sport in the U.S"

And now?

"These project are starting to default on their loans and go out of business," said the business expert in his TikTok video. "These developers thought that the sport would continue growing at the same rate, but this might be the beginning of the end for the sport's dominance."

I never go to that side anymore, so I don't know if they're still popular like they were. I liked the area better when it was just open grassland, but it was technically part of the park & apparently people wanted pickleball.

From the article:

>The game started as a low-impact version of tennis ideal for seniors and others with mobility issues or higher risk of injury. <

There’s actually an indoor set of pickleball courts in my area and since it’s near the pet food store I drive by it occasionally. Never see more than a few cars there.

It's because of the tragic overdose death of Matthew Perry in his swimming pool AFTER he played pickle ball, which he loved and played avidly.

I think it threw a pall over its association with that sad event.

Not sure 🤔 I know what it is? Why Pickle? Seems strange. Adults throwing pickles at each other, maybe? Guess the craze is over. I missed it without even knowing what it was. Why was it noisy?

and breathing hard they found something else to do.

I am an old racketball player. there was a time the courts were all booked up. Lasted about a year or two. Then folks disappeared about as quickly as they came.

There is a converted tennis court at a tiny park close to me. It has players every single day.

On the weekends, it looks like they are holding tournaments. They have freaking spectators, for freak's sake!

It isn't dead here, but anyone who was thinking it was going to be added to the Olympics and stuff was just being delusional.

It was a fad. Like all fads, it had an 'in' time, and now that time is gone.
