I believe it was 2006 when I made a prop for my

Wife's assembly at her school. That was not unusual, I've done a bunch of props for her over her 40 year teaching career.
But this one year was different. She decided on Neil Diamond's "America" from "The Jazz Singer" and wanted her thirty or so kids to unfurl an American flag as the finale.
So I ended up having to make a 30 foot long flag that was 3-4 foot tall so Mom and Dad could see their offspring.
It ended up being five stripes and 49 Stars - (close enough for government work.
The point of all this is we still have the flag and we were going to display it for the Fourth this year, but we lost all enthusiasm for doing any sort of display this year.
But now that I made a point of talking about it, I'm going to have to find a picture of it to post here.

without any provocation or engagement.

Any pride I felt at "being American" died when the first video surfaced of a US Navy warship killing shipwrecked "drug dealers" after sinking their boat, No arrest, no proof they had drugs, just an allegation. Summary execution.

The USA my father served in the Navy in WW2 and my brother died for ( also in the Navy ) would never do such a thing.
