I went shopping

If you go out, pace yourself! It's 94 here, with a heat index of 104. I needed a few things to get through the weekend, or I wouldn't have gone out. Whew!

I put food and water out this morning to help the critters get through the day. I'm determined to help them through this heat. My daughter has some box turtles living in her yard. She saw one yesterday on the feral cat's food dish, eating any scraps the cat left. She chopped a little slice of peach into bits and put fresh water in one of her shallow water dishes. She put most of the pieces of the peach on the plate and the turtle scarfed it down. She had one more piece in her fingers, and the turtle came toward her, looking for more. It still had a bit in her mouth, but gladly took that last piece. It headed for the peonies. When my daughter put the water dish down among the leaves, the turtle stuck the lower part of her head in the dish and got a big gulp. Such a sweet story.
