(2,422 posts)I like a smear of peanut butter (adds an earthy fattiness), some BBQ sauce, and sweet pickle relish with a pile of lettuce. Dont really care what kind of burger it isstore-bought or homemade--black bean burgers, garbanzo, Quorn, TVP, or seitan.

(3,306 posts)If I've planned ahead or have the kids over, I'll make chipotle aioli - but that tends to get messy. And I have to eat a cup of it with pretzels over the next week.

(77,710 posts)...sliced tomato & horseradish mustard, plus......
I make a concoction of onions & mushroom sautéed in red wine. That has some Worcestershire sauce, cinnamon, & red wine vinegar so it's sort of a homemade condiment.
If I don't feel like making that, I just take thick slices of onion and put those on the grill until they are lightly charred.

Onions

They all are either repulsive to me and/or make me ill.*
So for me a burger is perfect with cheese, lettuce and tomato. If Im in a really unhealthy mood Ill add bacon and BBQ sauce.
* I SO wish I liked these things. There would be so many more foods to choose from and restaurant ordering would be infinitely easier.

(12,716 posts)With mayo, ketchup, mustard, cheddar cheese, fresh onion and pickles. Sometimes without the pickles.
All of the above without the bell pepper.
Or just all of the condiments with onion and pickles.
Tomato and lettuce are occasionally added as well.

(30,229 posts)It also had cheddar cheese, dill pickle and raw purple onion on it, and I added ketchup and mustard. Can't remember the specifics of the bun - may have been brioche.
Several years ago I stopped eating red meat, so these days it is black bean burgers and turkey bacon for me - still pretty good.

(49,650 posts)The store brands suck so much. Whatever happened to flavor? Last ones I liked were Sir Kensingtons and Raos but both were discontinued. Its so easy to make your own
tomato paste, lime juice, onion powder, allspice and maple syrup (or other sweetener
brown sugar, honey, etc. ). Just stir it up to taste.
As for the rest of the burger condiments
. Mustard (dont get me started), sweet pickle, diced onion, and cheese
on a potato bun.

(1,376 posts)I like bacon, cheese, lots of spicy brown mustard, dill pickle, lettuce and tomato.
I have an aversion to sweet pickles. When we were kids, my sister and I formed a secret club. One of the club rules was we couldnt eat sweet pickles. Funny how we made a rule out of something we wouldnt touch with a ten foot pole anyway. But we were never in danger of breaking the rule and risk getting kicked out of the club.
