(8,614 posts)admired the work of this country, country-rock and bluegrass player. Born in Maine from a French-Canadian family. Who was he?
I know he was in the Byrds but I can't remember his name, will ponder for a while
*as a teenager I had posters of Jimi and Jimmy on my bedroom wall - how cool was I?

(8,614 posts)both a session guy and later as a full member. He collaborated with Gene Parsons to create the B-Bender, allowing a guitarist to play pedal steel effects with a Telecaster. He died at 29 while packing up after a show, victim of a drunk-driver. A wonderful and inventive player.
I had posters of Bob Dylan and Easy Rider.

(8,614 posts)even Keith Richards thought so. Gram sang at the funeral for Clarence, he died about 3-4 months later from excess alcohol and morphine. His body was hijacked by road manager Phil Kaufman. A drunken Kaufman took the coffin to Joshua Tree NP and set it ablaze. He partially burned the body, only got cited for destruction of a corpse.
Weird and bizarre stuff!

(53,564 posts)Counting drummers who appeared on camera in the two Spinal Tap films, and those who have played in Spinal Tap's concerts, how many people who were drummers in real life have played with Spinal Tap?
VGNonly
(8,614 posts)best left unsolved, you really can't dust for vomit.

(53,564 posts)Russ Kunkel: played Peter "James" Bond in This is Spinal Tap
Ric Parnell: played Mick Shrimpton in This is Spinal Tap, and performed on their first two albums. In 2022 he became the first actual Spinal Tap drummer to die in real life.
Gsry Wallis, Jody Linscott, Mick Fleetwood, Gregg Bissonette and Todd Sucherman all played a small number of concerts with the band.
Valerie Franco: played Didi Crockett in Spinal Tap: The End Continues.
So...eight drummers. More than six but less than eighteen.

(8,614 posts)and his All-Stars in 2014. He would co-drum with Ringo, or when Ringo would only sing, or when Ringo would take a rest (being 76 at the time). I saw Mick Fleetwood with Fleetwood Mac in 1978 in Cleveland.
The only two who I knew of that were actual drummers were Ric Parnell and Valerie Franco.
