This is pure Americana

The guy bought a 59 Chrysler 300 413 V8 from a boneyard.

Did most of the repairs to what seemed hopeless on the dirt parking lot.

The memories washed over me. My first car was a 62 Fury. Back in the days when you could work on your own car, usually with your buddies helping and hanging out in between beer and pizza, laughing and busting balls the whole time.

The thrill and camraderie when the damn thing actually worked

Then he attempts a drive covering much of old Route 66, 1000 miles, during the 100th anniversary of the Mother Road in 2026.

It does not have a happy ending, he covered a lot of distance, but the ending literally put him in danger and put a lump iny throat. I have personally experienced many of the struggles on the road he runs into, and it made me feel like I was along for the ride.

It is long, over an hour.

For me, not long enough, in more ways than one

It's hard for me to explain, but the eccentricities and fallabilities of these old cars meant they had a soul.

To me, anyway.

It hurt to see her go up in flames.

Especially after she had had her peaceful rest disturbed, and still gave her all and performed admirably.

That 413 was Queen of the Highway.

Better to go out that way, than to sit and decay.

That engine was a "Golden Lion" 413, putting out 380 HP from the factory!

That's about 45 HP short of a 426 Hemi with dual 4 barrel carbs!
