(98,966 posts)rogue calls. I just don't answer if I haven't saved their number.
Occasionally I do just for fun and I just remain silent and put it on speaker, after 2seconds they hang up. I don't get many repeat calls from those callers.
Another thing I do is start reciting numbers in a voice that sounds like it could be 'generated'... they just hang up.

(27,153 posts)That crinkling sound is just like static, and I shout as loud as I can, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
Short conversation, and not many callbacks.

(1,301 posts)The day I had my annual Medicare wellness check. They sometimes administer
the cognitive part over the phone so answered. Voice on the other end asked me
if I've received my Medicare card yet and of course I sad yes. She sounded a little
perplexed and asked me what my card number is. I told her I'd have to get and
hung up.

-------------------------------------------- NEVER give them your info!
How to answer spam phone calls...
Keep asking: What is your name?... until you get an answer.
What is your company/org name?... until you get an answer.
What is your company/org address?... until you get an answer.
What is your company/org phone number?... until you get an answer.
What number can I get in contact with you?... until you get an answer.
If they resist: "I want to know who I'm dealing with."
So what if they lie?
You're just going to hang up on them anyway.
Even better if you say 'sorry, not interested'.
.
Their time is also important to them.

(3,465 posts)Another scam call from India.
Going to get me lots of money if I was involved in a car accident.
Funny thing, when he asked me how it happened, he hung up when I said I was driving drunk.

(986 posts)I have a landline and a cell phone. The landline requires someone calling me to press a number my voice mail says to be connected. This eliminates robocalls and the automatic dialers. On my cell phone, if I don't recognize the number or caller ID doesn't indicate who it is I let it go to voice mail. I'd check it later, click on the spam option, and block them. I rarely get any spam callers.
