(112,148 posts)I have had some things delivered to me (some time ago). They used my credit card, and it was really fast, with those items delivered from a local store where available and the rest quickly shipped.
I'm not a Walmart fan, mind you, but on occasion, if i can't find what I want elsewhere, I will check with them.

(9,552 posts)I ordered my computer chair from them and I did not have to open an account.
They may have changed their policy recently due to insatiable corporate greed, but that was my one experience with them.

(16,102 posts)Returns are a hassle. They will give you the runaround at customer service if any item is from a third party seller which isnt made clear when you purchase.
Also a relative bought an item that required assembly and paid for both the item and assembly. The item came but the assembler didnt so the item was returned but Walmart wouldnt refund anything. After numerous calls promising a refund over the course of a month one phone rep said to contact the bank and dispute the purchase. Thats the only way we got the money back.

(40,455 posts)I recently ordered something from a Walmart reseller. I didn't know they had them. Anyway, the reseller ripped me off. They shipped me an envelope with a scrap of paper & "Thank you" scrawled across it. They used the tracking number on the envelope as proof of delivery. I had a couple of exchanges with reseller & then forwarded all my correspondence to Walmart along with a photo of the envelope w/tracking number & slip of paper, & a full refund was issued the very next day.

(4,648 posts)A couple of years ago I needed a new tire and no other local place had the size that I needed. My choice was to order through a local dealership or through Walmart which was much cheaper. I ordered through Walmart and had no problems.
I'm sorry that Walmart put most Mom and Pop shops out of business over the last half century. But my experience as a worker was that most of those Mom and Pop shops were unwilling to pay their workers enough to be able to buy what the shops sold. Maybe if I had been paid more than minimum wage I could have bought a pair of rose colored glasses and I would remember things differently.

(10,118 posts)other place and your set. It is really very little difference between them and Amazon. They deliver promptly and have good prices. I use the grocery pickup all the time and the people are great, friendly, and very helpful. I don't have the Walmart + so no experience with that.

(3,415 posts)I'm a HUGE fan of the curbside service - I'm real happy not having to go IN to Walmart. I use the shopping cart as my grocery list and just plug stuff into my cart as needs come up. It helps me manage my spending, I am not tempted by clearance racks and pretty shiny things, lol. I've used shipping a few times, with no issues. The site is quite up-to-date as to product availablility, right down to the individual store you're shopping from and if they're out it will tell you what store near you shows it in stock. They have it down to a science and it is extremely efficient, and they take care with your items when loading in your car.

(15,044 posts)So Ive had to order online for basics like band-aids and even some foods. I have also ordered other things like a lawn mower and trailer hitch. The orders come pretty fast and can be returned to the store.
You do have to watch out for their 3rd party sellers, though. One of them charged me shipping and then shipped with a fraudulent tracking number and wanted me to pay postage due. I reported them after my local post office told me how it happened. I refused the package and got a full refund.
Im not a fan of Walmart, but weve quit Amazon completely and are left with so few choices. When possible, I go directly to the companys website if they sell direct to customers (for example, Corelle). If there is no other choice, Ill order from Walmart.com.
They need your email address, phone number, and mailing address to process the order. Just dont buy the Walmart + for free shipping, or whatever that does for you. I do a lot of online shopping and dont object to creating an account. It helped me track my orders, in case I want to buy something again.
