Things are not going well on board the starship Enterprise, as any of the few regulars that don't have me on ignore can attest. However, this is not about me. This is about the man I love. The one person in 61 torturous years that stood by me and even decided to propose to me and then to wed me. I told him not to and did not hold back in my description of just how dangerous my curse can be. Now, 21 years later and he is still here, albeit not doing well either. Here is where I am asking for help.
My hubby works as a baker and he is now pretty much wearing rags on his feet. He needs new work shoes and pretty much needs new shoes altogether. He is the one who actually has a job here, as I cannot work without problems that none seem willing to accommodate, and he is really suffering from all kinds of knee, back and neck issues because of this. There are specifics that are part of the issue with his footwear. He has special sized feet that do not match, and his work requires what are known as 'kitchen soles'. These elements combine to make getting him footwear very difficult and right now we are struggling financially pretty badly.
Any or all of you that can do a little something to help me get him some new work shoes, and maybe some decent walkabouts or something as well... I would be very appreciative of it. This is not for me. This is for the man I love more than anything.
Thank You. Here is the GoFundMe. This may be the only gift he gets for the holidays this year. Please help me get it for him.

(Just know... I REALLY hate doing this.)

(31,130 posts)Or will you try to find shoes that fit the budget? Let's see what you are thinking about so we can have a good idea what you need.

(11,484 posts)They are a little more than standard foot wear
they can be anywhere from $50. On sale to $150. Full price
The ops trouble is his spouse has 2 different size feet so I am assuming they have to buy two pairs of shoes to get one pair ( I hope I am not misunderstanding), and of course no one should wear work shoes after work because when you are on your feet all day, your feet need a rest in something comfy
Im not the op but I remember waiting tables in shoes with soles so thin I tried to avoid the dishwasher room, so I didnt have wet feet 👣

(9,552 posts)You understood it fine. We have done both in the past. It is preferable to get a proper pair rather than have to try and figure out what to do with two mismatched shoes.
Yes, they are literally coming apart and he has wet feet all the time, because the restaurant floors are uneven and water pools all the time. (Another issue.)
Thanks. He will be so happy to see them.

(9,552 posts)I assume that he can do so again. I will also be checking into a few places here as well.
I will have to just see what can be afforded. I suspect that that last pair might be out of our range this time around.

(31,130 posts)Let's get to OldBaldy's goal tonight. $95 to go
questionseverything
(11,484 posts)Saying the goal was $300. Because the goal is lil higher now, I just want to be clear that wasnt baldy changing anything but probably my not understanding go fund me.
I have no idea what it costs to order special sized, properly soled kitchen shoes and hopefully baldy will let us know for sure once he gets hubby off to work , plus he needs a pair for everywhere but work

(9,552 posts)I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for this. The funding has not hit the account yet, so he does not know this is coming. I will be passing on the origin of the funding and I will try to get him to at least say 'hi' on here. (He is a Neanderthal when it comes to social situations.)
I will let you all know when we get the new footies for my baker hubby!
