(21,823 posts)It makes me sick and the person who did that has a "funny" story to tell his friends.

(32,037 posts)They got tired of finding dead deer and dead turkeys that were never retrieved by hunters with poor tracking skills.
The plain and unpleasant fact of the matter is that, even with the best archery equipment and even with accurately-placed arrow shots, there is virtually no such thing as an instant kill of wild game, as there is with a bullet from a high-powered rifle. Animals that are wounded with broadhead arrows don't drop in a lifeless heap---they run off and have to be tracked down, sometimes at considerable distances, and some hunters just aren't very good at that critically-important aspect of bowhunting.
Sorry if the foregoing upsets some of you, but I know whereof I speak. I did some bowhunting when I was young, and I am profoundly grateful now that those hunts were unsuccessful.
For some reason, bow hunters consider themselves superior to other hunters. Until our neighborhood put up no hunting signs, we had all kinds of problems, including arrows in the side of homes and of course the injured deer.

(21,823 posts)we use to have deer around our neighborhood with arrows sticking out of their bodies. Fish and Wildlife would have to put them down. Finally we put up serious no hunting signs.
