Remember elementary school fall festivals?

So much fun. I still remember the gypsy woman in a tent looking at a glass globe, and reading my fortune. I remember the fishing poles, and someone tugging on my line from behind a partition after they attached a cheap toy. I always looked forward to the school fall festival.

It was '59 or '60, hard rain and most activities were cancelled, when I first saw Francis. quaint Nov 9 #3

At ours, they had a cake walk, attractive to adults. A circle of chairs, and the teacher played music while you walked around. When it stopped, you sat down. I don't remember if the chairs were numbered, or if the teacher drew a number. Either way, the lucky person got a whole cake! Lots of fun.

You'd put your ticket in a slot, ask your question to the microphone, hear typing inside the large cardboard and plywood machine (complete with blinking lights), a bell would ring, and then an all caps typed answer would pop out of another slot.
