I’m not a big fan of cats. Never have been. Mrs. Aristus’ aversion to dogs is the reason we have neither.

My step-daughters both have cats. And whenever we go to visit, the cats come scrambling up to me, make themselves at home in my lap, crane their necks for pats on the head, and purr contentedly.

Evidently, my dislike of cats is undetectable at the feline level. And of course, I stroke them and pet them and take good care of them. I’m not a monster.

I just can’t figure their affinity for me.
