(51,544 posts)Though I don't think anything would have ever motivated me to get any tattoos.

(112,233 posts)I really do NOT like them. The ones above are colorful and unique. I get that, so those who feel differently, it is your body.
I see no reason to make the identification of my carcass easier.

(40,472 posts)If I can't come up with a design I'll search for an artist. Those tatts pictured are awesome!

(22,246 posts)They're attractive, BUT the tats block your sweat glands. And when this much skin is covered, that can affect body temperature.
Also, I've heard that the tattoo ink (certain colors) can end up in the lymphatic system.
I never really wanted one. But go into a yoga class, and there is hardly anybody without one. Younger women are big on tattoos.

Only one im Disappointed in is the G. I had to have it enhanced by the guy who does the real Packer players tats. The guy who originally did it was a San Francisco fan, and I swear he did it on purpose. 😡

(36,567 posts)In solidarity with a female patient who was upset at the idea of the tattoos, I gave myself one on my left wrist, just under my thumb so she could see how small a positioning tattoo is.
She was a cool lady
Never regretted that.

(7,942 posts)I was in line to buy some coffee and a young woman in front of me had her hair pulled back and there were three little musical notes behind her ear. I complimented her on them and found out she was a professional musician.

(518 posts)A permanent statement of a passing fancy. I guess it might prove interesting in the nursing home trying to figure out what that one was supposed to be.
But if I did, they definitely wouldnt be nazi tattoos. Even when I drank (and I DRANK), I could never get drunk enough to get a Nazi tattoo. And if somehow I did, I definitely would have sobered up sometime in the ensuing 20 years long enough to notice I had a Nazi tattoo.
But no, I dont have any tattoos.

(990 posts)I knew a lot of men and women in the AF who had them and I think it was just to stand out form the others. I never cared for tattoos because they look, IMO, hideous, and they cost too much to get. I'm retired living in San Diego, a Navy town, and I a lot of young sailors and their wives have tattoos and then they complain about how little money they have. I really can't sympathize or empathize with for spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on tattoo instead of they immediate and future needs.

I've also never dated anyone with a tattoo. I don't find them attractive, but YMMV.

(5,644 posts)Also my dad survived Auschwitz and he was forcibly tattooed because it's against Jewish law.
Just bad association for me.
Same with cremation.
I don't like face and neck tattoos but otherwise I don't care for other people.

(22,246 posts)I did not know it was against Jewish law. Thanks for your response, I have learned something.

(3,798 posts)When I was kid I saw a neighbor woman with numbers tattooed on her. I asked her why. She told me. Since then I have never wanted anything the concentration camp things on my skin. I have tags, bruises, eczema reds and warts, but no tattoos.

(5,499 posts)...remember the Ed Hardy "fashion" craze from 20 years ago?
Tee shirts, hats and lots more stuff.
Here's the wikipedia entry.
And the wiki link to the Don Ed Hardy bio.
I scanned several of his original paintings, and created limited edition giclee prints which were signed and numbered by Don.
They sold for around $100.00 each.
I still have a few signed printer's proofs.

(9,484 posts)If that's your thing, go ahead. Let your freak flag fly! But it's not for me. I know I'd get tired of looking at it, & I don't want anything that permanent on my body. I have done temporary tattoos before going to the beach, though. They wear off.

(3,957 posts)Very personal and very private.
It wasn't that painful for me, however I did get lightheaded; a small bag of peanut M&Ms fixed me right up.
