Grammar lesson in a joke?

It can be done.

The wife of an English professor came home one afternoon and entered the bedroom to find her husband in flagrante delicto with one of his students

Stunned, the wife said, "Well, I've never been so surprised!"

With perfect aplomb, her husband replied, "My dear, I must point out your grammatical lapse. You are amazed. It is we who are surprised."
