Went to a new delicatessen today

This Deli is in my hometown. I reside about 5 miles from the town I grew up in.

The place is getting rave reviews online (Google and Reddit).

I didn't bother looking up the address of the place, I just used my GPS and asked it to navigate me to "name of deli" ). I'm sure you've also had an experience like this...my GPS navigated me there great, but when I got close to the place, I couldn't find it. It kept taking me around the block. After about 3 trips around the block, which was congested with construction work, I finally saw a woman walking down the street, so I rolled down my window and asked her where it was. She pointed her finger, and it turns out I was in the road right in front of it, I just couldn't see it unless I were to crane my neck.

The place was amazing. All kinds of food. It took me awhile to order.

Smelled like weed in there, which was fine with me. Friendly guys behind the counter.

Took me a few minutes to order.

2 cheesesteaks please.

Sub or wrap?

Sub.

6 inches or 12 inches?

12 inch.

Peppers, onions, mayo, steak sauce?

Oh jeez...I don't know. You decide.

What kind of cheese?

Provolone.

Then I grabbed some thing I thought was a brownie, all wrapped in plastic.

I asked...Is this a brownie?

No, it's banana bread.

OK, I'll take this too.

I gave him my name and waited for them to cook my order.

While I was standing there holding my banana bread, one of the owners approached me and said hello and struck up a conversation.

Did you get the banana bread with or without the chocolate chips?

I have no idea, I don't have my reading glasses and thought it was a brownie!

He took it from me, read the label, and said "These have the chocolate chips. You don't want this. Let me get you a regular banana bread.

OK, I said.

Do you want a cup of coffee?

No, that's ok.

It's free, on the house.

No really, I'm good, but thank you.

Went home and ate the sub and banana bread.

We have a saying in our house. We call every good looking piece of bread a "nice roll".

I took the two subs out of their wrapper, and we both simultaneously said "those are some nice rolls".

And I guess why I'm typing all of this shit is because that cheesesteak was in THE TOP FIVE BEST THINGS I'VE EVER EATEN. I'm still on a food high, hours later.

The end.

The *very* best cheesestake subs I ever ate were topped with Frank's (original) Hot Sauce.

Thinly sliced beef, grilled onions and peppers, provolone, on a chewy sub roll, smothered in the vinegary-spicy Frank's sauce.

Can never eat a cheesestake without again.

ETA: great, now I can't stop thinking about it arrrrgh!!

I find myself in PA quite frequently...mostly NE PA. I hate driving down there though, like in the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre area.

The roads down there are...different. I sarcastically call them "engineering marvels".

After scarfing that the only problem is what to do for dessert. Sometimes if I can't decide, I just get two. Or I might sneak over to Parlor Doughnuts. If you have never had one of theirs you have never really had a doughnut.

But interesting... maybe I'll look it up "good cheesesteak" either in The Bronx, or Manhattan.
Now, back in Philly you mentioned the ?cheezewiz. I don't remember.

But if I do get one at some future point; it'll be provolone! I'd not had provolone yet at that point. Eventually a big fan of regular, and aged provolone!
