This or that as a kid, candy apple or caramel apple with/without nuts on top? I would go with caramel apple

They were WONDERFUL. There was an Affy Tapple “factory” near me but it closed and the product disappeared at least locally. Used to sell them at the checkouts at the A & P, Mom would get me one as it was “healthy” (an apple!)

When I was a little kid. Just did a deep dive into the wilds of Google. The brand was started in Chicago and they wanted to expand east so they opened a place near Allentown in 1955 (a little before my time). The plant closed in 1976 and the building is now an auto parts store. Good to know they still make them somewhere.

We would often have candy/caramel apples and popcorn balls in our Halloween 👻 bags.

But, in the town where I grew up, there was a fine candy joint (made all their own candies) that sold fantastic caramel apples in the fall.
One of their versions had whole pecans on them, not ground peanuts. I preferred them plain to the peanut coated, but the ones with pecans were fantastic.
