websites with patient portals. Not one of them are monitored; inquiries are not responded to, files are not updated, and test and lab results are rarely posted.
Excuses Im given include that they are third party managed, its not a priority for the responsible staff, and the physicians dont have the time necessary to keep the portals current.
But, The situation will be examined!
Bastards! 🤬

(6,470 posts)All of my medical records are updated at each step of my examination and care. My providers are affiliated with either the UNC or Duke Health systems, their portals are based on Epic Systems so the data can shared with both hospital systems, and there are no excuses.
Good luck getting finding more responsive providers.

(21,800 posts)Maybe better now, with a new NP--my old one retired. With her, my records were updated and explained, but she didn't answer emails I sent. The new NP answered the first, not the 2nd. It is too bad you have a portal to use, and your medical team doesn't use it. Waste of a useful resource!
Sometimes I have questions to ask other sites. In recent years, many sites have faq for help, and there isn't anything that is close to the question I have. And just try to find a phone number.

(4,527 posts)I think practices outsource mainly so a third party handles billing and insurance claims. The outsourcing includes extra stuff like the patient portal which many doctors don't effectively use. I agree they should disable it if not going to use it.
