It was time for her to be adopted. I've had her since she was a little tyke about 5 weeks old and hiding behind a stuffed toy dragon. Now she's a big girl about 3 1/2 months old, spayed and healthy, rambunctious and goofy. She has her druthers--doesn't like to be cuddled, loves her silvervine sticks and rattle mice but otherwise prefers anything that isn't a toy, and would much rather sit beside you than on your lap. She has never developed much of a meow, just kind of a squeak, but has a great purr. They put her in a kennel in the front of the adoptable room, and every time I went by there she looked at me like I had betrayed her, and when I went in to see her she wouldn't let me pet her. I hope she gets adopted soon! I feel terrible.

(13,038 posts)She is my fourth foster and second kitten, and I said to the foster coordinator a couple of weeks ago that the next one "has to be a grownup"! This one has about worn out my patience, although I discovered I don't have to yell at her. I learned with my last one that saying "hey hey" in just a slightly raised voice would stop her in her tracks, and I started that with this one as soon as she was old enough to start exploring. It's just hard giving them back, but they all get adopted.
I'm already looking at two with medical needs, and probably going to bring home a sweet girl who has horrible nasal polyps and keep her until she has surgery. She sounds terrible but she's lovely. She's black, and unfortunately her name is Midnight (ick), but I usually call her either Medianoche or Snuffleupagus.
