I'm back! ( Update 8-10 )

Last edited Sun Aug 10, 2025, 07:17 PM - Edit history (1)

I'm sure most of you didn't notice, but I've been out a couple of days.

Spent 2 1/2 days in the Hospital with a medical scare. Still a bit weak, but strong enough to watch the Mariners game.

Basically they thought I had a stroke ( ) but it ended up being a "mini-stroke" sort of like the TIA variety. Anyway, a few torturous minutes in the MRI torture chamber told them there is no significant dain bramage.

So y'all stuck with me for a while yet. 💪

On 8-10:

On my way to full recovery. Even drove to breakfast with fam this morning. No real problems other than a little fatigue.

Thanks for all of your support! Means a lot.

They messed with my prescription list, which I will have to coordinate with my PCP at the VA. Have a phone appt with my pharmacist Monday so will get a chance to discuss things then. I've had some indicators and symptoms for a while now and I have discussed those minor problems with them before.

This all happened at a local hospital and involved the state Medicaid based health system, so I guess I'm in with them now, though my primary will remain the VA. Received a bill from the hospital and their pharmacy that was suprisingly low and 'affordable,' so somebody else is paying for much of it. I know VA will pay for emergency room visits, but that doesn't include the 2 nights in the hospital.

Some paperwork and phone calls in my immediate future.

It's so wonderful to hear good news, I'm even happier that's it's happening to a DUer. Chalk another positive for the good guys.

Please take good care of yourself. You don’t want any more TIAs.

Glad your “dain” is unbroken!

The usual recs about diet and activity, etc. I don't smoke or drink, so that's not a problem.

They want follow-ups, but I have to coordinate all this with my VA medical team, too.

I’m sorry you had such a scare. TIAs are terrifying but probably protect us from bigger things. I’m so happy you’re feeling good.
