when i moved up from southern ca to sonora ca , there was a old time hardware store called mundorfs . mundorfs seemed like they had everything hardwae wise in stock. if u asked for a thingamajig or a whatchamacallit they had it or could order it. u ask the big box stores and they look at you like : or idk

(11,088 posts)They were less than a block apart, and couldnt have been more different. Vans was well lighted, sold baseball gloves, guns, jack knives, and tools. If they sold screws and nails I never saw it.
Muesels was what you described. You walked up the narrow aisles on a plank floor with boxes of screws and bolts and nails and God knows what all crowding in on you. There was always some old fart up front chewing the fat with Mr. Muesel.
