It was oppressively hot & humid here in Hot-lanta, so I didn't do as well as I hoped, but my daughter did great! I'm happy for her. Alas, age is the ultimate victor...

(16,010 posts)My daughter convinced me to run a half marathon in 2017. I finished (barely), but my knees are trashed and I haven't run since!

(8,894 posts)A doctor who was also running saw me staggering near the finish line. I ended up on intravenous in the emergency room. A friend picked me up when I was discharged. The TV in the waiting room was showing the Mets game (the race was in nearby Jersey) and they mentioned the temperature was 95 degrees that day.
Lesson learned. I really enjoyed the running and hanging out with runners, but my injury-prone body made me turn to other forms of exercise.
