(16,642 posts)I need an Ace bandage thundershirt, and so does Tosca!
We'll both be hiding in the bathtub if this keeps up.

My husband used to have rocketry as a hobby. I had to talk him down from his anger.
"Honey, you can't put that stuff in the nose cone and send it over to the Smiths"

(8,026 posts)It's also kind of a mixed blessing that my old dog is growing a bit deaf lately. It thankfully doesn't bother her as much as it used to.

(16,642 posts)One gunshot or firework explosion I get a glum, penetrating stare. More, and she's headed for the bathtub. Lily, young Jack Russell, thinks Tosca in the tub is a spectacle worth watching.

(72,182 posts)Mother Nature sent hi m my way & he was loaded with worms, incl heartworm. I would've placed him with a rrescue, but so many animals dumped here, they would have euthanized him.
So here we are, 7 yrs later.

(16,642 posts)Nope.
I feel bad for my pittie because he seems frustrated that he can't get to the source of the "attack." Poor pup.

(21,379 posts)I've been thinking about getting a noise activated alarm that does something offensive. Mainly for the dirt bikes. I thought about digging out a voice altering toy and screaming something ridiculous after each explosion. Might be too late to pull that off this year, but I grinned thinking about it.
I hope you get through it okay.

(72,182 posts)They are likely making so much noise to get attention. Sick fucks..

(21,379 posts)The less I want to be neighborly.
Wish there was something to mask the noise so the dogs couldn't hear it. I tried fans when I had my grand dog here, but it didn't help.
My relative in Fl. puts a thundershirt on their dog, gives it calming meds, and sits in their disaster room with it till it's over. Doesn't help much :/

(1,656 posts)When we first moved into our neighborhood quite a few years ago, fireworks would start going off as soon as the stands opened to sell them, usually about a week before the fourth, and go on for about a week after. The last couple of years though, they might do some on the third, wait until dark to start on the fourth, and done by midnight.
A few of our cats hide but the rest are just sort of meh.
SheltieLover
(72,182 posts)Of course I completely ignore them.
Glad your plight isn't long lived & your pets aren't too bothered by the infantile stupidity.
