Go to a wake or a funeral. Share grief with those who are truly grieving.

Any supportive gesture to a deserving cause is worthy of appreciation by the angels.

As a mother who has been through horrible things I can assure you what you did helped. It's not the words so much, but your effort and compassion--your love.

Going in on Wednesday for a t-car surgery … inserting a stent in my left carotid so blood can flow freely. Not the biggest of surgeries, but this is my 7th surgery of some kind and I’m sick of it. Arthritis is acting up big time and infringing on activities that need to be done.

I survived my worst … bring it on!

But, what we do need at that time is just to be HEARD and then understood. Exactly what you did when trying to comfort her Lucky. You let her know that she was heard, and that you understood and cared about her pain. Probably helped more than you will ever know.
