I ask what TV service?
She says Spectrum (don't have Spectrum)
I say, what do they want?
She says, we are shutting off your service.
What for?
She, non payment of your bill. (Don't have Spectrum)
Poor thing , I laughed, and hung up

(4,168 posts)1. Using AI, they can record your voice and then make calls on your behalf.
2. About a year ago, after trying to shame the scammer from India, for about 4 days our phone started ringing off the hook. Apparently the scammer took revenge on us and signed us up for dozens of various services, just using our phone number and fake email (they just used first initial lastname @gmail. It was not our email, but it was a valid email apparently. We had to cancel all these orders and services.
In the end: Harassing them was not worth it for us.

(4,168 posts)I don't know if they had our address or not. I imagine somehow they would try to find me liable for payment. Most of the people were understanding once I told them what was going on. (It took a while to figure out what they had done to us)

(32 posts)Mrs Happy and I have been getting a lot of text scams. My favorite is the one about how we owe road tolls in places we have never been. Pretty easy to tell its a scam, the text comes from bubba@hotmail.com and I know he doesnt work for any toll agency.

(4,211 posts)came to recognize her voice, claiming to be from Social Security. She kept alternating between three different phone numbers, which showed up on caller ID. She'd offer to help sign me up for benefits I was already receiving. I always just hung up. Finally I got smart, copied down all the numbers and reported them to Social Security.
A day later she calls again, and I interrupted her & said look lady, I recognize your voice, know you're a scammer, and have reported all 3 of the numbers you use to SSA. Have fun talking to the FBI about consumer fraud and impersonating a government employee. Then I ended the call. Never heard from her after that.
