an extremely troubled person. Murdered his mother, beating her with a hammer and then using a knife. Spent the last 40 years of his life in prison/institutes (schizophrenia). He died in 2023.

Suffered terribly from it. I think schizophrenia must be the worst disease ever.

I wrote to him to thank him for his music, and I wrote, “Jim Gordon is god” when I was talking about his music, you know, like a play off of how people used to say “Eric Clapton is god” so his reply to me referenced what I had written to him.

I told him how the first song I ever fell in love with, Wichita Lineman, had him playing drums, and he remarked that he remembered playing on that song, so clearly.

Explain to a friend, why I will always honor his music, will always talk about his accomplishments in music, will always refer to him as “the great Jim Gordon.”

Why I included him in my prayers regularly, until he passed away.
