So, gonna try this again as I lost the story yesterday.
My friend Tracy, who I was living with, who is a Rural Mail Carrier, called me in the fall of 2021 and told me she had two kittens park themselves in front of her postal vehicle. I asked her to bring them to the office at the end of her route and we'd figure out what to do with them as winter was fast approaching and neither of us wanted anything bad to happen to them.
They were so adorable cute we decided to bring them home for the time being Snuggles was dark furred and Cuddles is a brainless orange cat. (You know what I mean if you've ever owned an orange cat lol).
As they cuddled and snuggled with us when we got home, naming them was easy for me lol. Snuggles and Cuddles it was. We assumed they were brother and sister as they slept together and played together like litter mates.
It was stressful as they made a total of five cats in the house which got kind of crazy.
The following summer, we tried to let them be outdoor kitties while feeding them, and fixing them etc...
Snuggles was my baby and Cuddles became attached to Tracy's son Toby. It got kind of crazy with all the cats we had so we all agreed to find homes for these two.
We found a lady who was willing to take them both so they could stay together and brought them to her home
It was clear that this was a mistake as she was a massive hoarder and you could hardly move around in her house. Cuddles wanted no part of this and ran off into the woods by her home. We took Snuggles back home and left Cuddles as he wouldn't respond to our calls.
Toby was heartbroken at losing Cuddles once he was gone, crying nonstop for several hours. I talked his mom into letting Toby keep him as long as he stayed outside and we'd find a new home for Snuggles.
Toby, who is on the Autism scale, high functioning but emotionally stunted, went and found him in those woods and Toby was over the moon that we got Cuddles back
We found a trailer to rent for Toby and I and moved Cuddles and Petunia in.
We had found a farm for Snuggles to live at, but she didn't get a long with their other cat so after three months at our new place, we went and got Snuggles and reunited her with Petunia(my old female cat 14y/o) and Cuddles.
Snuggles died on May 5th of what must have been a heart attack in our driveway on May 5th.
I was heartbroken as she was my little critter, impersonating a raccoon sometimes, a rabbit in how she hopped along, a dog in that she always slept near my feet.
Through all this time, I was the one walking, feeding and doting on Cuddles even as he stayed loyally attached to Toby. Cuddles loves our walks and he's always been so wonderfully affectionate with me when we are at the Cemetery or the Pond.
As I was dealing with my heart issues, Cuddles was at my side for every walk, every day and shared my lap at the cemetery without exception.
As I get ready to take him to the pond to fish today, he is imploring me to stop typing and get a move on.
So there is a brief summary of Cuddles story with us without some of the nuance details like his surviving getting hit directly by a car a week before my quadruple bypass surgery. He has been a very strong part of the miracles that I've been blessed with again and again and again.
I love that little boy like he was my own.
