The prospect of an embarrassing defeat convinced Trump to reverse course on Epstein files
(CNN) President Donald Trump is no longer fighting the release of the Epstein files. But that doesnt mean hes happy about it.
Trump threw his support behind a congressional effort to release all the files tied to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after it became clear that he could not halt its momentum and that he risked suffering an embarrassing blow on the House floor, people familiar with the matter told CNN.
The stark reality, which was conveyed to Trump by allies and advisers in recent days, drove the presidents abrupt reversal Sunday evening and his comments Monday that hell sign the measure if it comes to his desk. Its a decision he came to reluctantly, but one that is now likely to clear the way for the measures overwhelming passage in the House on Tuesday and for the Senate to take it up after that.

(13,127 posts)Given how dishonest the DOJ leaders are, how will we know we are seeing unedited files?

(8,513 posts)They might try, but that would be easily uncovered. There are many other sources of information not coming from the OJ that would contradict whatever they doctor. For example, the info coming directly from the Epstein estate, testimony from victims, former prosecutors, lawyers who went through discovery during the Maxwell trial. etc.. etc..
Given how dumb Trump and his administration are, they might try it anyway, but that will blow up in their faces.

(30,697 posts)I predicted weeks ago there would be more than 4 House Magats to release the files. The list had grown to 40 or 50 or more.
Think of what that scenario would have looked like, Krasnov trying so hard to keep the files secret that he uses the Situation Room of the White House. If Krasnov had stood his ground urging Magats to vote No, what a humiliating defeat that would have been.
Now Krasnov is pretending he is for releasing the files.
No matter what happens next, voting to release the files keeps PedoGate in the news for a long time.
