These Monsters Must Be Brought to Justice

Julie Roginsky

The cruelty. The abject fucking cruelty.

Donald Trump is starving and terrorizing his own people in the wealthiest nation on earth. If the next Democratic administration does not bring the people responsible for this to justice, Democrats do not deserve to govern ever again.

Let’s start with Trump’s forced starvation of the American people and how, in the best tradition of Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong, he is creating a man-made hunger crisis that will kill his own citizens. Ironically, it is Trump’s voters who will bear the brunt of this. The typical red county in the United States is poorer and more reliant on food assistance than a typical blue county. The highest SNAP participation rates cluster in the rural South, Appalachia, and the Midwest — regions that overwhelmingly voted Republican — while wealthier suburban and coastal counties, which voted Democratic, have far lower rates. The typical red county is poorer and more reliant on food assistance than the typical blue county.

Republicans have been brainwashed for decades to believe in the myth of the freeloading Black welfare queen, who sits at home eating bonbons while defrauding the government and voting for Democrats.

Does that mean we don’t deserve to ever govern again?

NEVER bring the criminals to justice. We play "too high", we're "too soft-hearted"... we want to "move on." But THIS time is so completely different from any other that has gone on before it, IMO. If course, I wasn't around for anything in the old days of the 20's and 30's. So, saying that... I don't see that any group before now has actually brought down the United States to a point where it is a third-world country in our own backyard. We have that now. We have a repeat of the Grapes of Wrath, with a whitewash of the Great Gatsby.

The next Democratic Administration is going to want to pick up the pieces and move on, rather than go back over the past wrongs. They'll find it easier because they are naturally so conflict-adverse. But WE can't let them do it this time. Always before, we went back to work, trying to pick up the pieces of our shattered lives. NOT this time. Too much as been lost; too much has been cast aside; too many *people* have been cast aside and/or killed outright. We, the People cannot let ANY administration that follows this Caligula-like government whitewash the errors and crimes. WE will have to DEMAND justice, if it takes more strikes, more boycotts, more street marches... no matter what it takes. WE have to tell the administration we won't accept any less than real accountability. Of course, the first part of that is --research-- who you want to vote for, and make sure you can live with them and their policies if they're elected. Make sure they match their words with their deeds. Words are too cheap these days.
