The thing that has been killing Dems is not where, exactly, each Dem comes down on the top 10 issues. That is important, but it isn't the most important thing.

What is 100X more important is whether the Dem is willing to really fight hard for our core principles. We have had several generations where prominent Dems were most comfortable avoiding fights, or even avoiding taking any real positions for fear that might be the prelude to a fight.

Screw that. Americans don't want patsies. They want people who believe in important principles and will really fight for them.

Gavin Newsom learned that lesson, which makes him a lot smarter than most Dems. His first instinct was to buddy up with people like Joe Rogan as if somehow we could kill them with kindness. That just about killed Newsom's career, or at least his Presidential ambitions. But he got the message and did an abrupt 180. He is now taking the fight to Trump every day and not backing down. This is what people want from EVERY Dem, whether they are in New York City or Des Moines.

Granted, the issues might not be exactly the same in Des Moines and NYC. But in today's world, the big issues all relate to fighting fascism, so that won't change much from one state to the next.

I would humbly suggest that those Dems who fancy themselves as "moderate" had better check themselves pretty quick. It is OK to have some issue positions that aren't highly progressive. But it is absolutely not OK to follow a first instinct to pal around with these fascists and look for "common ground". That is not what anybody wants, and we need to be actively primarying anybody who doesn't get the idea that we have to VIGOROUSLY oppose this fascism as job number one.

And this is why I am not giving a penny to the DNC going forward. My money will go directly to candidates who show a real backbone.
