The MAGA Supreme Court is letting Trump get away with murder -- Sabrina Haake
https://sabrinahaake.substack.com/p/the-maga-supreme-court-is-lettingThe Republican majority on the high court has long wanted to gut the administrative state in service to expanded executive power that will in turn protect oligarchic interests over those of the common man. Their nihilistic legal philosophy holds that almost all regulatory agencies and laws should give way to private, for-profit interests.
Although the Courts majority does not officially label itself a free-market capitalist court, its rulings reflect support for a severely limited regulatory environment and laissez-faire capitalism, where private entities rather than the federal government drive and regulate for-profit activity. In their view, government services that protect, educate, and serve the public, science that saves lives, and social programs providing safety nets to vulnerable populations could be better providedif at all by private ventures that turn a profit.
As Trump and the MAGA majority on the high court gut the administrative state and eliminate federal services, American casualties will continue to mount.

(6,767 posts)All we needed to do was get a majority vote in the Senate, when we had the majority, to break the filibuster so we could amend the judiciary act and add five or six seats for Biden to appoint honest justices to neutralize these stupid idiots.
And who kept us from doing this? A couple of Democrats in the Senate, and a former President who were too hung up on Senate tradition and status quo to make a commitment to break the filibuster.
Even with slim majorities in the House and Senate, this Trump Presidency would have been dead in the water if a packed court had overturned Citizens United, to keep Musk's money out of the campaign, overturned their ridiculous unconstitutional immunity ruling, and enforced the law against his unconstitutional executive orders. But then, if the court had been packed, they'd have ended his delaying tactics in the criminal cases with the indicments against him, he'd have gone to trial and been convicted and jailed before the election was even close. Merrick Garland's gross negligence and incompetence could not have protected him from that.

(53,082 posts)Will SCOTUS remain MAGA after the demise of TSF?
Specifically, once they don't feel threatened and the country's calmed down, will they return to being boring conservative Justices? I mean besides Alito and Thomas?

Somebody probably has enough goods on them;
and, like every other sell-out they are afraid of the crazies.
