More than approval of Pedophiles separates the Pseudo-Christian Trump Cult from True Christianity
https://signalpress.blogspot.com/2025/08/theres-more-than-just-approval-of.htmlProof? I John 4. The Apostle's words define the difference. He speaks authoritatively of what is required for a human being, created in the image of God, to be Christian, as opposed to being antichrist, and uses that exact word. He defines them simply, but thoroughly, enough that it's obvious. Christianity rests on the acknowledgement of Jesus as the Christ, the Messiah, the Savior. A quick test of the spirits, as instructed by the Apostle, shows the pseudo-Christian MAGA cult doesn't pass that test.
It also doesn't appear to be a coincidence that cases of sexual abuse by pastors and church leaders seem to be soaring in those sections of conservative Evangelicalism that also embrace the extremist right wing politics of Trumpism, nor are some of their misogynystic practices excluding women from church leadership, or the fact that conservative Evangelicals are the single most segregated branch of Christianity in the United States. Find the fault line, and you'll find these kinds of moral issues on the right side of it. Of course, no one is perfect, but the Southern Baptist convention is having a terrible time resolving a sexual abuse crisis in its churches uncovered about five years ago by the Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express-News. The atmosphere in most of the churches that have withdrawn from the convention doesn't tolerate that kind of behavior. It seems to sift out the personal kingdom builders and dictator pastors.
According to his own narrative, Jesus has already established his Kingdom, a spiritual one, based on the practice of Christian faith through the values he preached and lived by. He never intended to establish a "theocratic" nation on earth, similar to the way in which the Old Covenant established. Salvation, which was what both of these kingdoms existed to provide, is quite different, needing neither the power and influence of the United States, or the leadership of a worldly demagogue like Trump.

Do unto others... Love thy neighbor...etc.
These people are heretics.
One of the reasons I converted to Buddhism in the 90's. Buddhism is more Christ conscious than Christianity as it is currently being preached and practiced.

(6,563 posts)specifically Christianity. He's been a touchstone for me when I think I can't stand things any longer. Having lost the link once, it took months before someone here on DU provided the helpful link to allow me to get it back. I'm not a Christian, haven't been one since my early days of sentience. But, as I found out with my Grandmother (also an old school, old-time preacher), keep labels off and we're talking about the same essence. Which is why I became a Seeker in the first place.

(6,767 posts)This is both a political and an ideological battle. It has already happened in some segments of American Christianity where it may give the appearance of having been all consuming, but the fact of the matter is that those who have already done a lot of the ideological battle, which includes Baptists going back to the slavery debate, the fact of the matter is that the opposition on the left has a sound, solid, well-reasoned, well-articulated message that guts the core of the pseudo-religious MAGA cult. Their interest is holding on to freedom, understanding that if some people are not free, then no one is free, and that in order for them to have religious liberty and freedom of conscience, everyone has to have it. The idea of loving one's neighbor, within the theology and practice of any legitimate Christian faith, is unconditional, and it does not exclude anyone, even those who may, because of their own conscience, reject any kind of Christian practice. The important steps to take are to unite in opposition to the attack on freedom, not merely to defend one's own turf,, but to defend everyone's freedom.
There is a lot of strong, solid messaging against the intrusion of white, Christian nationalism, Project 2025 and the whole phony pseudo-Christian veneer of right wing extremist politics mixed with right wing religion in Baptist News Global which is produced by the Associated Baptist Press, that is of benefit in helping to identify the non-Christian elements of MAGA.
